1 Second CPS Test

One second, nothing held back. This is your peak, not your pace.

One second measures your ceiling

A one-second run finishes before fatigue exists. There is no pacing decision, no second half, and no point holding anything back — whatever your hand can produce at its absolute fastest is what gets measured. That makes this the highest number you will score on this site, and the one most people mean when they say how fast they click.

It is also the least forgiving. A run this short rewards a hand that is already warm and punishes hesitation, so the first attempt is rarely the best one.

Why one second is the noisiest test

With so few clicks in the run, every single one is a large share of the score. One extra click and one that did not register are each worth a whole click per second — the same stray click over a five-second run would move the score by a fifth of that.

So read this test as a range rather than a figure. Take several runs and look at the best of them; a single attempt is a sample of one, and a sample of one is not a measurement of your ability.

The world-record confusion

You will see a click speed record of around sixteen clicks per second quoted everywhere, usually with no clock attached. That figure is a sixty-second sustained average, and comparing your one-second burst against it is comparing a hundred-metre split to a marathon pace. They share a unit and measure nothing alike.

Burst rates over a single second go higher than most long-run records, and that is normal rather than remarkable. If you want a number that is comparable to those records, take the sixty-second test instead — it will be a lot lower, and it will mean something quite different.

Why this is the test for combat games

Hits register per click, and an exchange in most games is decided in a burst of a second or two. Nobody sustains anything for sixty seconds mid-fight. That makes peak rate the quantity that actually matters, which is precisely what this length measures.

A browser measurement will not transfer exactly — games handle clicks, ticks and hit registration their own way — but it puts your hand on the same scale as everybody else measured here, which is the useful part.

Questions about this test

What is a good 1 second CPS score?

Higher than you would score over any longer run. Burst rates in the teens are common among practised clickers and the best one-second runs go higher still, because a single second is over before your hand has begun to tire.

Why is my 1 second score so much higher than my 10 second score?

That gap is the whole point of having both. One second measures what your hand can do; ten measures what it can keep doing. Comparing a one-second burst to the famous long-run world records is comparing a sprint split to a marathon pace — they are different quantities that happen to share a unit.

Does one second even measure anything reliable?

It measures a real thing, but it is the noisiest of the durations: with so few clicks, one extra or one missed moves the score visibly. Take several runs and look at the best of them rather than reading a single attempt as your number.

Is this the right test for Minecraft PvP?

It is the closest one. Hits register per click and a fight is decided in a burst of a second or two, so peak rate matters more than anything you could sustain for a minute. A browser measurement will not transfer exactly to a game that handles clicks differently, but it puts your hand on the same scale as everyone else measured here.
